"Walk in the Way of Insight" - Proverbs 9:1-6

1 Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn her seven pillars.  2 She has slaughtered her animals, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table.  3 She has sent out her servant girls, she calls from the highest places in the town, 4 "You that are simple, turn in here!" To those without sense she says, 5 "Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed.  6 Lay aside immaturity, and live, and walk in the way of insight."

I love visiting this piece of scripture from Proverbs.  It’s rare that the feminine gets much explicit credit in the Bible, so I cling to those precious examples like Lady Wisdom.  Throughout my life I have been blessed to have been in relationship with many wise people.  I can see myself as the one of those without sense the writer of Proverbs talks about when I remember some of my old views of the world.  Without fail, those with wisdom always pointed me to something bigger than myself and the small world I had created, and they always encouraged me to search for God in the ordinary.  I am so grateful that they shared their wisdom and invested time in our relationship, because they changed me for the better.

Who shared wisdom with you?

What did they teach you?

How did they change your life?

Have you shared it with someone else?

As a church, I pray that we would share our wisdom with one another.  That we would be willing to invest in deeper relationship with one another.  People of all ages have wisdom to share and things to teach us.  As we move into the next phase of our life together, I prayerfully ask you to consider how your wisdom might serve the kingdom of God.  You have more to offer than you think.
