"Unmatched Righteousness" - Job 1:1, 2:1-10

There was once a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.

Job was among the best, blameless and upright but what happens to him is the stuff of nightmares - his children die, he loses everything, he is left only with a stone to scrape his sores.  His wife is so pained by what she has witnessed she encourages him to curse God and die.  Bad things happen to people every day, but when your life has been going smoothly it can be easy to assume that their misfortune is their fault - bad things happen because we make bad decisions.  But that’s not always true and from Christian perspective, it’s kind of beside the point.  Why someone is suffering or in a bad place isn’t our primary concern, rather our concern is to see Christ in them and to respond in love.  The story of Job reminds us that suffering comes and our goodness can’t always prevent it, yet somehow we can still have faith in the darkest of times.  Join me Sunday as we consider the suffering in the world and how our faith can help us through.
